Brussels, 1 October 2025 – The Global Data Service Organisation for Tyres and Automotive Components (GDSO) has been formally registered as a Liaison Organisation with the CEN-CENELEC Joint Technical Committee 24 (JTC 24) – Digital Product Passport – Framework and System.
This agreement, signed on 17 September 2025, recognizes GDSO’s role as a key actor in the development of data-driven standards for the tyre and automotive sector. As a Liaison Organisation, GDSO will be able to contribute its expertise and knowledge to the work of JTC 24, supporting the creation of a consistent and interoperable framework for Digital Product Passports (DPP) across Europe.
JTC 24 is tasked with developing the standards and system architecture for the Digital Product Passport, a central element of the EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan. The DPP will provide a harmonised way to make product-related information digitally available throughout the value chain, fostering sustainability, transparency, and innovation in European industry.
With its mission of “building the worldwide language that unlocks tyres’ potential”, GDSO has already established itself as a trusted platform for data standardisation and sharing in the tyre and automotive ecosystem. Through its participation in JTC 24, GDSO will bring hands-on experience from its operational data space, ensuring that industry-specific insights contribute to shaping high-quality, consensus-based European standards.
“Being part of CEN-CENELEC JTC 24 is a significant milestone for GDSO,” said Riccardo Giovannotti, Secretary General of GDSO. “We look forward to sharing our expertise in digital data standardisation and contributing to the development of the Digital Product Passport, which will be a cornerstone for the future of sustainable and data-driven mobility.”
Cinzia Missiroli, Acting Director General of CEN and CENELEC, welcomed the agreement:
“CEN and CENELEC are pleased to work with GDSO as a Liaison Organisation in JTC 24. The expertise and practical experience GDSO brings from the automotive sector will strengthen our joint efforts to develop robust and widely accepted standards for the Digital Product Passport.”
